How to sell anything to anyone

In four words: make it about them.

Most people hate selling. I did and still do.

The first time I reached out to clients, I contacted more than 100 qualified leads whose companies needed what I sold. Less than 5% wrote back. Most said no, less than 1% wanted to know more, and then declined.

What changed everything for me was this: people decision-making is emotional, then find the logic to explain it.

If you want to sell an idea, a product, or even yourself in a job interview, start with what the other person wants. What do they want to get, avoid, or feel? Then tell them the things they need to hear to say yes.

For example, I stopped saying, “Here’s what it does,” and started saying, “Here’s what it can do for you.”

I just made it about them. That small shift helped me get more replies, move deals forward, and ultimately, close more deals.
